Another FriendFeed Fix-it Day

We had a big Fix-it Day here at FriendFeed, where we stop working on our bigger projects to fix the bugs and add the small features that have been lingering for too long. Here's a few of the things we fixed:

  • We added support for five more services. You can now add Intense Debate, brightkite.com, Diigo, Mister Wong, and tipjoy to your feed.
  • We completely revamped our feeds, so FriendFeed should work a lot better in feed readers. The titles and links are now useful, and the bodies contain permalinks to the entry so it is easier to get to the live discussion on friendfeed.com.
  • Comments from people you are subscribed to are lightly highlighted so it is easier to scan for comments from people you know in active threads.
  • We fixed Atom feeds for private rooms.
  • We fixed a number of bugs with Google Talk support. If you had trouble adding your Google Talk account to FriendFeed, try again.
  • When you send a Twitter from a FriendFeed comment, we suppress the Twitter entry from your FriendFeed home page so you don't see as many duplicates.
  • When you go to Advanced Search from the search page, your search query is pre-populated into the form.

We really appreciate all the feedback we have been getting in the FriendFeed Feedback room. Keep it coming!

This is awesome news. I was just about to ask about brightkite. Well done, I really love the feedback room. Wish more companies operated the same way.

I really love the service. One question though: Didn't comments made by friends already get highlighted? I remember seeing the icon of friend's comments surrounded with a yellow glow. The new icons are a bit too subtle.

Also, if you were looking at adding new service (you probably hear this a lot) can I suggest http://getsatisfaction.com and http://wakoopa.com.

Keep up the great work! :)

And we *still* can't get past Page 11?

Diigo - Yes! Thank You!

20,000+ folks at Sphinn.com would really like to be supported as well. Last I asked, you weren't adding services. If you are -- c'mon, how about us?

Sphinn support would be nice. +1 vote here.

I'd like to see Sphinn supported as well. Squeak Squeak.

I agree with Danny Sullivan. FriendFeed would be much more convenient if Sphinn.com was supported.

I think it's ridiculous that Sphinn isn't included. 20,000 Sphinn users can't be wrong...include Sphinn!

adding sphinn would be nice!

Sphinn would be good.

Any chance of getting Sphinn included as well?

There are probably some technical barriers from including Sphinn.

First of all one of the 2 feeds that would probably be used, for votes has been broken for 5 months (at least)
e.g.
http://sphinn.com/rss/user/DoshDosh/voted

It has identical content to the submit feed.
http://sphinn.com/rss/user/DoshDosh/all

A second inconsistency is that with the primary social media sites, the feed contains links to the content directly, and not to the social site. Reddit also suffers from this, but has an API that could be used later if Friendfeed are trying to add some kind of "bundling"

That being said, I would love to see Sphinn in Friendfeed, and this issues fixed with Sphinn.
