Get real-time FriendFeed notifications on your desktop

If you like being in the know whenever there are updates to your FriendFeed, you'll probably enjoy our new desktop notifier. It's a super-fast download and takes just two clicks to install.

You can choose to get updates from your Home feed or any of your Friends lists. Clicking on the little window takes you to FriendFeed for easy viewing and commenting. And I love being able to drag the window to anywhere on my desktop.

The FriendFeed Notifier is an Adobe® AIR™ application that watches the FriendFeed real-time update feeds. As always, let us know your thoughts in the FriendFeed feedback room.

We think this new FriendFeed Notifier is pretty awesome. You should try it out: http://friendfeed.com/settings/notifier. Consider yourself notified.

  1. Hah! Right on the heels of the very question asked on the Gillmor gang, wether you guys would do your own desktop client.

Congrats guys, keep up the innovation!

  2. I can find no way to turn it off or to control the number of pop-ups. I've tried to unsubscribe but I can't stop it. Please help - how can I delete/uninstall it? I really regret installing it now.

  3. Great App! It's much lighter than the others Adobe Air apps for Friendfeed.
One suggestion: it would be great to have an image or favicon of the web page which es generating the content. Much better than the little text at the bottom.

  4. Maxine, you can turn off the pop-ups by either quitting the notifier application or using the 'Sign out' link in the bottom right of the notifier's Settings window.

The easiest way to uninstall is to first quit the notifier, then click on the 'Install Now' button again at http://friendfeed.com/settings/notifier. Choose to Open the 'friendfeed.air' file and you will then be given the option to Uninstall.

  5. It seems like a good utility and I've been using it for the last 4 days, but I don't like the 'feature' of stealing the focus from the application I'm working on. I may write something and, suddenly, the little notifier pops up and my keystrokes are vanishing!
